ATO Tax Defaults

Learn how ATO tax defaults appear on a business credit file in CreditorWatch. Understand data updates, access restrictions, and how to resolve or remove a tax default through the ATO.

Updated over a week ago

You must be logged in as a CreditorWatch member with an active subscription to view ATO tax defaults. Free trial accounts do not have access to this information.

Overview

CreditorWatch receives weekly data updates directly from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). This data includes:

  • New tax defaults

  • Amendments to existing tax defaults

  • Removals of tax defaults

ATO information is displayed in CreditorWatch reports without modification. CreditorWatch does not change or edit the data.

Data Updates and Delays

ATO data is provided weekly. If a tax default has been removed by the ATO but still appears on a business credit file, the delay is likely due to the weekly update schedule. The change will display in the next CreditorWatch update.

Access Restrictions

ATO tax default data is only available to members with an active subscription.

  • Active subscription = a paid plan with full access.

  • Free trial accounts do not include access to ATO tax default information.

If you believe your account should have access, contact our Support Team (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm AEST) via online chat or reach out to your Account Manager.

Removing or Updating an ATO Tax Default

CreditorWatch cannot change or remove ATO data. To resolve a tax default, you must deal directly with the ATO.

Steps:

  1. Contact the ATO — Resolve the default directly with the ATO (e.g. settle outstanding amounts or correct records).

  2. Confirm update — Ensure the ATO updates or removes the default in their system.

  3. Wait for weekly update — CreditorWatch will automatically display the latest data provided by the ATO.

All disputes or corrections must be resolved with the ATO. CreditorWatch acts only as the receiver of data.
